 Campus Life

The University of Utah Campus is situated in the foothills of the Wastch Mountains, overlooking the urban center of Salt Lake City. On-campus amenities include the Student Life Fitness Center, the Utah Musem of Natural History, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Pioneer Theater Company, Kingsbury Hall music venue, the Crimson Lanes bowling ally, hiking trails in Red Butte Canyon, rotating local restaurants and much more. If you need a break from campus, public transit is free for students and the SLC downtown is 15 minutes away using the TRAX lightrail system. The SLC downtown boasts a diverse dining and entertainment scene, including movie theaters, club/concert venues, an NBA stadium and other sporting venues, local craft microbreweries and restaurants, two shopping malls, biking trails, a number of city parks, and the extensive manicured gardens of Temple Square. Several canyons with numerous hiking and camping opportunities in the warmer months and Skiing/Snowboarding in the winter are less than a 30 minute drive from campus. For students wishing to travel on weekends and holidays, there are 12 national parks within a a half day's drive from campus, and the SLC international airport is a 30 minute drive away from campus, or can be reached via public transit.
