Holocene Climate Change and Artiodactyl Populations

Recent syntheses of archaeological and paleontological data have revealed dramatic late Holocene climate-based expansions of artiodactyl populations in many aras of the arid west. Further syntheses are underway and future work is planned to elaborate and clarify these trends and their implications. Proposed work will involve the analysis (including ancient DNA and stable isotopes) of a number of faunal collections and related data sets from a series of previously excavated sites.
